Tommy Harris Commemorative Group

When Tommy Harris passed away in 1979 he left approximately 20,000 negatives to Brendan Kenny. Bro. Raphael, with the assistance of Brendan and Patricia O’Meara tried to identify them but with little success. At this stage it was decided to approach Offaly Historical Society with the negatives. The Historical Society was very helpful and over a period of time, they had some 7,000 negatives developed into photographs. From these photographs, 470 were selected and published in 2010 the book Tommy Harris Volume 1. As far as possible the vast majority of these photographs have been identified and named. This book proved to be very popular and Volume 2 was launched in 2012. The book includes many historical extracts relating to Clara, some of which were compiled by the late Rev Brother Raphael Kinahan. There are a large number of photos in this book, some over seventy years old.
