Clara Environmental Group
The group was founded in 1989 for the purpose of amalgamating and expanding a number of individual social employment schemes in the town.

Clara Library 
In addition to general library activities Clara Library offer the following services:

 - Clara Jobseekers Drop-in Resource Centre (in conjunction with Offaly Local Development Company)

- FAS e-learning at the Library

- Involved with local schools on projects such as Shared Reading Initiative in primary schools

- Involvement with annual Hullaballoo Children's Arts Festival.

Fire Brigade Action Group

In late 2004 Offaly county council began discussions regarding the closure of 4 of the counties 8 fire stations. According to their plans Clara fire station would be the first to close. Following a well attended public meeting in January 2005 the Clara fire service action group was formed with the intention of overturning the decision.

Kilmanaghan Lodge Residents
Kilmanaghan Lodge Residents committee actively works to maintain the Kilmanaghan Lodge housing estate.

Railway View Residents
Railway View Residents committee actively work to maintain the Railway View housing estate. The group keep area clean and maintain flowerbeds.

The Green Residents
The Green Residents Association work to give the estate a voice and provide assistance to its residents.
Generally providing information to residents and acquiring deals for pensioners.
